Five Bacterial Vaginosis Remedies that Work

By Mishaun Taylor

Bacterial Vaginosis is a vaginal infection that affects millions of women around the world. If you are searching for Bacterial Vaginosis remedies that you can use right in the comforts of your own home, then you’ve come to the right place. We’ve put together the most famous home remedies that are currently available for the treatment of Bacterial Vaginosis. So whether you’re experiencing Bacterial Vaginosis for the first time or are experiencing a reoccurring bout, get ready to learn about five proven methods that work.

  1. Plain yogurt containing lactobacillus. With this Bacterial Vaginosis remedy, you obtain some yogurt that contains active and live “lactobacillus” and you insert the yogurt directly into your vagina with a plastic applicator. This Bacterial Vaginosis remedy is supposed to help rebalance the “good” and the “bad” bacteria that caused the BV in the first place.
  2. Acidophilus capsules/suppositories. With this Bacterial Vaginosis method you put acidophilus capsules/suppositories directly into your vagina or you douche with one teaspoon of acidophilus and 2 cups of water. Like the lactobacillus yogurt method, this remedy is supposed to help rebalance your “good” and “bad” bacteria.
  3. Tea tree oil suppositories or douches. With this Bacterial Vaginosis remedy, you insert diluted Tea tree oil or tea tree oil suppositories directly into your vagina for up to 6 weeks. Apparently tea tree oil is thought to have antifungal properties that attack the “bad” bacteria that cause Bacterial Vaginosis. Please note that you should never apply tea tree oil directly to the sensitive vaginal lining as it can cause an allergic reaction.
  4. Grapefruit seed extract. With this method, you douche with diluted Grapefruit seed extract (one teaspoon) and two cups of water. (Please note: You should never apply Tea tree oil or Grapefruit seed extract directly to the sensitive vaginal lining or it can cause an allergic reaction.)
  5. Hydrogen peroxide. For this treatment, you take ¼ cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide and mix it with two cups of water. You should then douche with the mixture. This treatment is thought to restore normal bacterial flora and rebalance vaginal ph.
